Don't leave a comment without a lake name by it

Went and spent the weekend at Cedar Bluff. Cleaned 15 nice crappie, 3 walleye, and a dozen whites. Crappie were all in 7' to 10' foot of water. It's a great lake and my favorite in the state, but the glory days of that lake are over until it fills up again. Eric

Caught 3 channels up to 8lbs and 2 walleye around 24" on cut bait at Cedar Bluff on cut bait in shallow area next to deep water one night this last weekend.

sheridan lake real good fishing caght 4 cats at 20lbs.each west end by the creek entrance worm and stink bait

Antelope lake was just turning on when the sever weather hit. Tornados and heavy rains have more than filled the lake and turned the water muddy as all get out. There are a few catfishing now with stink baits, but it's slow. I'll give a report on Sebelious after I get up there to try it out.

Knopolis is still a fine lake. Caught fish off the flats this spring and the cat fisherman were doing well beaning this summer.

Camping on the North side. In my book is still the best even though I drive to the State ramp on the south to put in.

Only draw back is they close the gates at, I believe 10:00 p.m. If you want to night fish you have to leave your vechiel out side the gate and walk in.

Sebelious has a good bass population. There's a lot of flodded vegetation right now. I'd recomend a noisy lure. But jigs are working for wipers and saugeyes too so anythings possible.

Anonymous said...

caught 2 4lb walleye at kanopolis and 5 big white bass. Outlet fishing has been ok but not great.

We had 4 trotlines in Sebilius for three days last weekend and caught 10 fish. 4 wipers and 7 channel cat. We had a variety of bait on all the lines.

Got to Cedar Bluff early this morning (9-28) expecting to see some topwater action on the whites &/or wipers. Nothing happening. Did manage to con a 27 inch walleye to hit a spoon and crawler. This fish was very thin and my scale put him under 5#! Appears to be shade in the lake in good numbers. Visited with several fisherman and no one having much success. Not many birds on the lake to chase at this posting. I showed wated temp back up to over 71 by 1pm.

Fished Antelope lake for about four hours. Saw lots of fish on the locator but the lake is full of shad. Not a single bite.

Lake Wilson Stripers are feeding shallow, on top, early and late in the day! 4 to 10 pounds. Hitting live bait and trolling medium sized lures. Check all mid lake points for bird activity.

fished kanopalis seep stream 11-23 with a buddy we each caught two 12-14 inch trout on dough bait

Anonymous said...

kanop fly fishing w/beaded prince nymph #14 under a indicator has been productive.Scuds, worm immitation working well too. Walking creek area fishing along the way key to success

Trout below dam at Cedar Bluff and Webster are pretty easy to catch on just about anything trout like. Use kastmaster, powerbait, worms, or small spinners. They are scheduled to put more in soon. I'm glad KDWP has the trout program. Sounds like you better do it this weekend if you want to fish open-water though. It's suppose to get cold.

January 1,2008. Antelope lake, fished brush pile directly east of boat dock from 10:00 am until about 3:30 pm. using small ice fishing jigs tipped w/meal worms. three of us fishing. caught several nice bluegill, a couple nice crappie, and two bass(both in the slot) caught quite a few fish, but many smaller. brought home 24 to eat. did that, now need to go back. also met several local guys that were fishing. great company, great day. ice is 6" but melting around boat dock. BE CAREFUL!

went back to antelope on sunday, jan 11. could have put the boat on and fished half of the lake, but alas all we had was an ice augur. caught 2 bluegill off of the boat dock and called it a day. went to sheridan lake. better ice but not good enough to walk on. come on cold!

Anonymous said...

Anyone find any good ice the last few days? Looking at Webster, Cedar Bluff, Veterans Park. I'd drive if there were some really good ice fishing somewhere though, hoping this cold blast forms some good ice.

mike said...

would really like to fish thru the ice on superbowl sunday. could someone let me know if the ice is safe at antelope lake or sheridan lake? would really appreciate any help.

Fished Webster Stilling Basin on Jan. 31. One hit on a jig. The basin is entirely all froze over. Have to find a good way to break ice if you want to fish. Also fly-fished the low water crossing where the 250 were put in. Didnt have any bites. Seen one guy catch one on velveeta cheese. Good Luck!!

drove to antelope on superbowl sunday to find some very mushy ice, drove east of st francis to the hale ponds just inside of colorado to find some open water. fished 2 hours, caught 9 crappie(8-10") and a limit of trout. 1 was 17.5" all came on ice jigs w/power grub

Spent the afternoon wading in the Hell Creek area at Wilson Lake casting sassy shad and twister tails. Cool with a wind out of the southeast. Saw one small white caught but didn't get a bump. Needs to warm up a bit I think and would be nice to have a stiff wind. Good luck.

crappiecatcher said...

fished Antelope thru the ice on January 3rd, 9th, and 17th. very few fishermen, lots of fish. crappie up to 14", bluegill to 10" and bass up to 23". all on ice jigs with crappie nibbles, or mealworms. checked out the ice yesterday and am afraid ice season is over.
